Tell your MSPs: 50mph speed limit survey

The Scottish Government have announced a consultation into the national speed limit on single carriageway roads; including the A92 from Montrose to Arbroath and A932 from Forfar to Friockheim.

The proposed changes to the speed limit from 60mph to 50mph would apply for all single carriageway roads to which the national speed limit currently applies. The proposed changes to speed limits for goods vehicles (>7.5t) would apply for all single and dual carriageways in Scotland.

The claim is that this change to our road network could lead to a 23% reduction in fatalities and an 18% reduction in serious injury.

However the frustration is that the Scottish Government is focusing on this, instead of updating the roads to make them safer.
