A working group including Angus Conservative Councillors has successfully removed the failing SNP administration from power at Angus Council. The new council, led by Independent Cllr George Meechan with Conservative Cllr Derek Wann as Deputy leader, is made up of Independent, Conservative, and Labour councillors.
The new working group will work together to deal with the mounting problems caused by local SNP dysfunction, and national SNP Government underfunding of Councils.
Cllr Derek Wann said:
"“Council priorities based solely on party political affiliation can no longer be the norm, especially when so much is going wrong. There needs to be work across party, putting the people of Angus before party politics.
There will be no more hectoring from the administration. Together I believe we can build a better future for Angus.”
The new working group is:
- George Meechan (Independent) (Council Leader)
- Derek Wann (Conservative) (Deputy)
- Tommy Stewart (IND)
- Ian McLaren (IND)
