Mearns Councillor and 'Save Our Mearns' co-founder Tracey Smith has been selected to stand for the Scottish Conservatives in the Angus North and Mearns constituency, constituting Stonehaven, the Mearns, Forfar, Brechin, and Montrose.
Community campaigner and local resident Tracey is a Councillor in the Mearns Ward, following a storming by-election win. Tracey has been active in the community for over two decades and locals backed her in the by-election as a proven local activist.
Tracey is best known locally for being one of the co-founders of the ‘Save our Mearns’ group, the main local campaigning group supporting residents who are against SSEN infrastructure plans and she has also spent time on the Children’s Panel in Aberdeenshire. She lives in the heart of the Mearns with her husband and family pets.
Tracey is standing to give her community the voice it needs. She is standing for her home seat of Angus North and Mearns and will cover the whole constituency campaigning on important local issues. She’s not a standard politician, but a community campaigner who puts locals over politics.
This comes following Tess White's withdrawl owing to personal reasons.
