Anti-pylon campaigner and councillor Tracey Smith has been selected for the Scottish Conservatives to contest the Scottish Parliamentary seat of Angus South at next year's elections.
Tracey earned the support of local members promising to stand up for residents over SSEN's pylon and substation plans. She also pledged to represent the Angus farming community in the Scottish Parliament, and oppose SNP plans to cut speed limits on Angus' A-roads.
Tracey is a Councillor in the Mearns ward and was the founder and chair of 'Save our Mearns', the local campaign to get SSEN to engage properly with locals over their plans to develop pylon pathways.
Tracey Smith said:
"I am delighted to have been selected as the Scottish Conservatives' candidate for Angus South for the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.
I will continue campaigning to protect our farmland and countryside from unnecessary industrialisation including the monster pylons planned for Angus. I will stand up and support rural healthcare services as well as a common-sense approach to traffic speeds on our roads and many, many more issues.
I look forward to getting out and meeting locals, organisations, and businesses over the next year. The hard work starts now."
