Derek Wann is a Scottish Conservative and Unionist councillor for the Arbroath East and Lunan ward and has represented the area since his election in 2017. He lives in Arbroath and has strong, longstanding ties to the local community.
Since April 2025, Derek has served as Deputy Leader of Angus Council, playing a senior role in the leadership and strategic direction of the authority. He is also Depute Leader of the Conservative Group on Angus Council.
Derek is Vice-Convenor of the Policy and Resources Committee, where he is closely involved in overseeing the Council’s budget, governance arrangements, and strategic decision-making. He also sits on the Family, Education and Justice Committee, contributing to policy development and scrutiny across education, children’s services, and community safety.
Beyond the Council chamber, Derek represents Angus Council on a number of external bodies, including the Angus Council Charitable Trust and the Scottish Joint Council, supporting partnership working and effective governance.
As a councillor, Derek’s priorities include delivering value for money for local taxpayers, improving roads, pavements and crossings, and supporting community initiatives that strengthen Arbroath East and Lunan.
